Birth leave

Birth leave for partners is set at once the total number of working hours per week. If you have a contract for 36 hours, this means you are entitled to 36 hours partner leave when your partner has given birth.

As of 1 July 2020, partners can take up to 5 weeks of additional birth leave. They will then receive a benefit amounting to 70% of their daily wage. The employee must take these weeks of leave within 6 months of the birth of the child, on the condition that the employee first takes the birth leave of one time the number of working hours per week.

A point of interest with respect to partner leave is that proportional contract extension is not yet guaranteed. This is currently under negotiation and will hopefully be dealt with in future collective labour agreements.
