PNN is the national interest group for and by PhD candidates in the Netherlands. We represent PhD candidates at the national level and are therefore a dialogue partner for, among others, members of the Dutch House of Representatives, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, the  UNL, the NFU, the KNAW and AcademicTransferIn addition, we organize various meetings annually, work closely with the  AOb (Algemene Onderwijsbond), the FNV (Federatie Nederlandse Vakbonden) and Eurodoc (European PhD council). At our four-yearly general member meetings (GMM), representatives of the local  PhD councils from all Dutch universities, research institutes and UMCs consult with each other.

General Board Member for the Research Affairs Portfolio

PNN is seeking a passionate and proactive General Board Member to join our team from January 1st, 2026, focusing on the Research Affairs portfolio. In this role, you will represent the interests of PhD candidates across the Netherlands, concentrating on key issues such as Open and Responsible Science, Recognition and Rewards, and professional development during the PhD trajectory. PhD candidates for a temporary position as program/policy officer at NWO

The NWO Domain Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) offers PhD students the opportunity throughout the year to temporarily gain relevant work experience as a policy officer.
